Smiling Assassin

So gaze upon the face of the smiling assassin
He packs a grin like a 44
Now, don't be surprised to find you're alone
After all, you are your own true love
It was a cold December morning, shot your woman down
And dumped her body into the river
And when they found your love washed upon the shore
I can assure you, no one was laughing
Yeah, you gave and you gave 'til you were blue in the face
But she never wore the shirts sent her for Christmas
Once you were the man of the hour
But now you're alone, feeling sorry, for yourself
The train is running on the hour
I'll be waiting for you there
Kick your heels up and down the platform
You never knew what you missing out on
I don't mean to disappoint you, but the outside world
Just isn't the same as our live and let live days
In our bullet proof cage at the all night shell
No one could shoot us down
And I can't understand in the name of Jesus
Where exactly is this heaven you speak of
Suddenly you are the chosen few
And the rest of us burn in Hell
The train is running on the hour
I'll be waiting for you there
Kick your heels up and down the platform
You never knew what you're missing out on
You revolutionary hero, you
Yeah, you gave and you gave until you were blue in the face
But she never wore the shirts you sent her for Christmas
Once you were the man of the hour
But now you're alone, feeling sorry for yourself
The train
You revolutionary hero you
You never knew
